Ellen Kempler Rosen
Ellen Kempler grew up in Miami. She graduateded Miami High, the University of Miami, and she has a masters from Harvard University. She taught the Confirmation class at Temple Israel for 18 years. A Miami-Dade teacher for 35 years, she was inducted into the National Teachers Hall of Fame in 2001. Ellen taught gifted, secondary English, philosophy and, Ethics and Leadership. She continues to teach teachers at the Zelda Glazer Writing Institute.
Ellen believes that poverty is not natural and wants to make poverty history. She has been a partner of RESUTS, a citizens lobby to end hunger and poverty. As a result, she co-founded a non-profit that lends money and provides training to low income people for business projects.
Ellen is inspired by studying Torah with Mitch Chefitz and loves the Temple Israel community. She has been on the board for three years.
She is married to Ken Rosen, has 7 step children and 5 grandchildren. She likes to read, cook, swim, dance and laugh.
