Karen Pincus has served Temple Israel of Greater Miami as Cantorial Soloist since 2017, and the Miami Jewish community as a prayer leader since 2007. A member of the Guild of Temple Musicians since 2009, Karen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Florida International University as well as a Judaic Studies Certificate and a Certificate in the Study of Spirituality. Every Erev Shabbat, Shabbat morning and Jewish holiday, Karen is on the bima elevating the Temple Israel kahal through sacred song and prayer. As Temple Israel’s musical director, Karen directs both the TI Singers Choir and the Temple Israel High Holy Day Choir. She also organizes and runs the Temple Israel Yad Squad, oversees the Temple Israel Song Leader, Jr. program (which she created in 2017), and as both teacher and mentor to our b’nei mitzvah youth, Karen works diligently to create Temple Israel’s leaders of tomorrow. Within the Miami Jewish community, Karen is a member of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation Cantorial Association and is actively involved in the Greater Miami Jewish Federation’s Mishkan Miami Refuat Ha-Nefesh program where she leads a monthly healing service at the Miami Cancer Institute at Baptist Hospital. Happily married since 1989 to her husband, Alan, Karen is the proud mom of Adam, who lives in NYC, and Lauren, who currently resides in Chicago.
